Recorded live at Mark Angelo's studio, London, on the afternoon and evening of Thursday the 22nd of August 2002. Engineered by Kevan Gallagher, assisted by Satomi Takada. 21st Century Schizoid Band: multi-instrumentalists Ian McDonald and Mel Collins, drummer Michael Giles, bass player Peter Giles, and guitarist and lead vocalist Jakko M. Jakszyk. First official bootleg which was available only at concerts of the band's 2002 shows in Europe and Japan, and now for what seems a brief period at http://www.burningshed.com. All songs were previously released by King Crimson on the albums "In The Court Of The Crimson King", "In The Wake Of Poseidon" and "Islands". "A Man A City", co-composed by Ian, was the original version of "Pictures Of A City", however Ian was not cedited for it on "In The Wake Of Poseidon", although both are not notoriously different. Listed titles for "Catfood" and "In The Court Of The Crimson King" differs from the originals but the music is still the same. "The Return Of The Fire Witch", "The Dance Of The Puppets" and "Mirrors" are not listed but they are included into their mother pieces.

1. "A Man A City"
(R. Fripp / P. Sinfield / I. McDonald / G. Lake / M. Giles)

Concrete, cold face, cased in steel
Stark, sharp, glass-eyed, crack and peel
Bright, light, scream, beam, brake and squeal
Red, white, green, white, neon wheel

Dream, flesh, love, chase, perfumed skin
Greased hand, teeth hide, tinseled sin
Spice, ice, dance, chance, sickly grin
Pasteboard, time slot, sweat and spin

Blind, stick, blind, drunk, cannot see
Mouth dry, tongue tied, cannot speak
Concrete, dream, flesh, broken shell
Lost soul, lost trace, lost in hell

Mel Collins: baritone sax
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar
Ian McDonald: alto sax, keyboards, sax solo
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals

2. "Catfood"
(R. Fripp / P. Sinfield / I. McDonald)

Lady Supermarket with an apple in her basket
Knocks on the manager's door
Grooning to the muzak from a speaker in a shoe rack
Lays out her goods on the floor
Everything she's chosen is conveniently frozen
"Eat it and come back for more"

Lady Window-Shopper with a new one in the hopper
Whips up a chemical brew
Croaking to a neighbour while she polishes a sabre
Knows how to flavour a stew
Never need to worry with a tin of "Hurri Curri"
"Poisoned especially for you"

No use to complain
If you're caught out in the rain
Your mother's quite insane
Cat food, cat food, cat food, again

No use to complain
If you're caught out in the rain
Your mother's quite insane
Cat food, cat food, cat food, again

Lady Yellow-Stamper with a fillet in a hamper
Dying to finish the course
Goodies for the table with a fable on the label
Drowning in miracle sauce
But don't think I am that rude if I tell you that it's cat food
"Not even fit for a horse"

Mel Collins: alto sax
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar, background vocals
Ian McDonald: keyboards, background vocals
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals

3. "In The Court Of The Crimson King"
(I. McDonald / P. Sinfield)

The rusted chains of prison moons
Are shattered by the sun
I walk a road, horizons change
The tournament's begun
The purple piper plays his tune
The choir softly sing
Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
For the court of the Crimson
Kiiiiii-iiii-ii-ing, aaah-ah-ah
Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah

The keeper of the city keys
Put shutters on the dreams
I wait outside the pilgrim's door
With insufficient schemes
The black queen chants the funeral march
The cracked brass bells will ring
To summon back the fire witch
To the court of the Crimson
Kiiiiii-iiii-ii-ing, aaah-ah-ah
Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah

Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah
Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah

The gardener plants an evergreen
Whilst trampling on a flower
I chase the wind of a prism ship
To taste the sweet and sour
The pattern juggler lifts his hand
The orchestra begin
As slowly turns the grinding wheel
In the court of the Crimson
Kiiiiii-iiii-ii-ing, aaah-ah-ah
Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah

On soft grey mornings widows cry
The wise men share a joke
I run to grasp divining signs
To satisfy the hoax
The yellow jester does not play
But gently pulls the strings
And smiles as the puppets dance
In the court of the Crimson
Kiiiiii-iiii-ii-ing, aaah-ah-ah
Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah

Aaaaaah-aaaah-ah-ah, aaah-ah-ah

Mel Collins: keyboards
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar, background vocals
Ian McDonald: keyboards, flute, background vocals
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals

4. "Formentara Lady"
(R. Fripp / P. Sinfield)

Houses iced in whitewash guard a pale shore-line
Cornered by the cactus and the pine
Here I wander where sweet sage and strange herbs grow
Down a sun-baked crumpled stony road

Dusty wheels leaning rusting in the sun
Snuff brown walls where Spanish lizards run
Here I'm shadowed by a dragon fig tree's fan
Ringed by ants and musing over man

I'll unwind my old strings, while the sun shine down
Won't climb any high thing, while the sun shine
Formentara lady, sing your song for me
Formentara lady, sweet lover

Lamplights glows on old guitars the travellers strum
Insence children dance to an Indian drum
Here Odysseus charmed for dark Circe fell
Still her perfume lingers still her spell

Time's grey hand won't catch me, while the sun shine down
Untie and unlatch me, while the stars shine
Formentara lady, dance your dance for me
Formentara lady, dark lover

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaah-oooooooh
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, uuuuuuuh-uuuuuuuh
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, aaaaaaah

Mel Collins: flute, tenor sax
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar
Ian McDonald: grand piano
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals

5. "Ladies Of The Road"
(R. Fripp / P. Sinfield)

A flower lady's daughter
As sweet as holy water
Said "I'm the school reporter"
"Please teach me", well I taught her

Two fingered levi'd sister
Said "peace", I stopped, I kissed her
Said "I'm a male resister"
I smiled and just unzipped her

High diving chinese trender
Black hair and black suspender
Said "please me no surrender"
Just love to feel your Fender

All of you know that the girls of the road
Are like apples you stole in your youth
All of you know that the girls of the road
Been around but are versed in the truth

Stone-headed Frisco spacer
Ate all the meat I gave her
Said would I like to taste hers
And even craved the flavour

Well, "like marron-glaced fish bones"
"Oh lady hit the road"

All of you know that the girls of the road
Are like apples we stole in our youth
All of you know that the girls of the road
Been around but are versed in the truth

Ladies of the road
Ladies of the road
Ladies of the road
Ladies of the road

Ladies of the road
Ladies of the road
Ladies of the road
Ladies of the road

Mel Collins: tenor sax, keyboards, background vocals
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar, background vocals
Ian McDonald: keyboards, background vocals, flute, alto sax in verse 3, tambourine
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals

6. "I Talk To The Wind"
(I. McDonald / P. Sinfield)

Said the straight man, to the late man
"Where have you been?"
I've been here and, I've been there and
I've been in between

I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear

I'm on the outside, looking inside
What do I see?
Much confusion, disillusion
All around me

I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear

I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear

You don't possess me, don't impress me
Just upset my mind
Can't instruct me, or conduct me
Just use up my time

Mel Collins: flute, keyboards
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar
Ian McDonald: flute, lead vocals, flute solo
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals

7. "21st Century Schizoid Man"
(R. Fripp / I. McDonald / G. Lake / M. Giles / P. Sinfield)

Cat's food, iron claw
Neuro-surgeons scream for more
At paranoia's poison door
Twenty first century schizoid man

Blood rack, barbed wire
Politicians' funeral pyre
Innocents raped with napalm fire
Twenty first century schizoid man

Death seed, blind man's greed
Poets' starving children bleed
Nothing he's got, he really needs
Twenty first century schizoid man

Mel Collins: alto sax, 1st sax solo
Michael Giles: drums
Peter Giles: bass guitar
Ian McDonald: alto sax, 2nd sax solo
Jakko M. Jakszyk: guitar, lead vocals
